Flawed Heroes/Heroines - how to Create Unforgettable Characters

Nicholas McInerny

At the heart of every great character lies the desire for healing, for oneness, for authenticity.

This workshop will take this crucial aspect of writing - characterisation - and through a simple exercise explore how we can begin to create complex characters and plot their journey to self discovery. Drawing on his twenty years experience writing for stage, radio and TV, Nicholas will also reveal some tips and devices which he has found useful.  As one producer once said to him, 'Let's go through the complexity to the simplicity beyond!'

Nicholas McInerny has had plays produced by the Soho Theatre, the ICA and Red Shift Theatre Company, written numerous radio plays and over thirty episodes of TV series including The Bill and A&E.

Healing the Heart of Humanity                 Amoda Maa Jeevan

This talk and meditation is an invitation to each and every one of us to awaken to our true divine nature and empower ourselves to transform our personal reality from suffering to joy and our collective reality from terror to peace. By having the courage to choose love over fear in every moment and in every circumstance – however difficult or challenging – we can heal the separation that divides us from our true essence, from each other, from the world, and from Spirit/God/Source.

Amoda will be joined at the end of the talk by her partner, Kavi Jezzie Hockaday, in a Heart Meditation with live music.

Amoda Maa Jeevan is a spiritual teacher with 10 years experience of leading personal transformation groups. Her new book “How to Find God in Everything” is available from February 2008 and is a call to join the revolution in consciousness that has the power to change our world.

Listen to the Voice                            Gavin Frank

Are you interested in exploring the full range, resonance and depth of your own voice? Do you lack confidence in self-expression? This workshop is aimed at people wishing to empower themselves through the medium of the voice, whether beginner or professional.

We will explore simple techniques such as chant, mantra, movement, improvisation and breathing exercises, which enable us to accept and trust the wisdom of the singing body, engaging ourselves more directly with life.

Gavin has been involved in music all his life, from choirboy to B.A. Hons (Music) graduate.  He is a student of Chloe Goodchild  and has been studying with the Naked Voice for nearly seven years, completing the “Voice” and “Facilitator” training and has recently been accredited as a Naked Voice Introductory Teacher. He has been teaching this innovative practice for seven years. As ‘Madrum’, he performs his own compositions with Lawrence Kelson. They released their debut  album  “Soma” in June and will be performing at the festival.
